Joshua P. Itzoe, CFP®, AIF® is a Partner and Managing Director of Greenspring Wealth Management’s Institutional Client Group. An SEC-registered investment adviser, Greenspring provides independent retirement plan consulting services to publicly-traded, privately-held, and non-profit organizations throughout the country. Itzoe is respected as an industry expert, commentator and thought leader on matters pertaining to retirement security, fiduciary responsibility and defined contribution plans.
Itzoe was recently named as one of three finalists in the United States for the prestigious 401(k) Advisor Leadership Award sponsored by Morningstar and The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA). The award recognizes significant accomplishments by a leading financial advisor in the 401(k) marketplace. He was also recently nominated for the second time for the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Defined Contribution” survey by 401kWire.
A frequent industry speaker, Itzoe has spoken at conferences for the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), Fiduciary360, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Employee Benefit News’ Benefits Forum and Expo.
He has authored numerous whitepapers and written about fiduciary responsibility for Benefits & Compensation Digest. He is also the author of one of the retirement industry’s most well-known books on fiduciary responsibility for defined contribution plans, Fixing the 401(k): What Fiduciaries Must Know (And Do) To Help Employees Retire Successfully.
Itzoe has been quoted extensively in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, SmartMoney Magazine, Kiplinger’s Retirement Report, Wealth Manager Magazine, The Baltimore Examiner, Journal of Financial Planning, Investment Advisor, Registered Rep, PLANADVISER Magazine, Financial Advisor and National Underwriter Life and Health. A native of Baltimore, Josh attended high school at Calvert Hall College and graduated with honors from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He graduated with honors from Wake Forest University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation from Fiduciary360 (fi360) which signifies knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care. While at Wake Forest, Josh was a four-year starter for the baseball team and spent several years playing professionally after graduation.
